Frequently asked questions.

  • What is DiBS?

Diversity in the Business of Sport (DiBS, for short) is a not-for-profit organisation that was set up by a group of sports business professionals to increase diversity amongst professionals working in the sports business industry.

You can check out our History and Mission page for more information on how we got started and why.

We are proud that DiBS has grown to become a powerful network of diverse industry professionals from black, Asian and other underrepresented minority backgrounds, and we look forward to continue getting bigger and better as we go.

We have grown our network primarily through running our annual mentoring programme (check out our Mentoring page for more info!), and we are always on the look out for new ideas and initiatives to help further our vision and mission.

If there are things you’d be interested in talking to us about, we’d love to hear from you. You can drop us an email at: hello@dibs.community.

  • So you run a mentoring programme?

Yep! Each year we offer a small group of talented people from inside and outside the sports business industry the chance to turbocharge their careers in sports business through a structured six-month long mentoring programme, led by seasoned industry professionals. If you’re interested in finding out more or applying to be a mentee, please check out our Mentoring page.

  • Why the focus on the black, Asian and other underrepresented minority communities?

We know that the issue of lack of representation in sports business is not unique to black, Asian and other underrepresented minority communities.

These are, however, the communities and backgrounds our founders and mentors are from, so addressing representation of these communities in sports business is a natural starting point for us.

We wholeheartedly support other diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives and enjoy contributing more widely to making progress on these issues in our industry in a way that aligns with our vision of seeing a dynamic and thriving sports industry, underpinned by a truly diverse group of individuals at every level and in every sector.

  • Does DiBS focus on a particular country or region?

DiBS is designed to be inclusive and international. Members of the DiBS community have worked and are based all over the world, reflecting the global nature of the sports business industry, and we are not limited by geographies.

  • How can I get involved in the DiBS community?

If you want to be involved in the DiBS community, we’d love to hear from you. You can:

    1. Apply to be a mentee - Check out our Mentoring page!

    2. Apply to be a mentor - Drop us an email at hello@dibs.community and we can set up time to chat!

    3. Talk to us about something else - Drop us an email at hello@dibs.community and we can set up time to chat!

  • Is DiBS affiliated with any particular companies or other programmes?

DiBS is run on a pro-bono basis by industry professionals who want to put some of their time and energy outside of the usual 9-5 into helping create a diverse and thriving sports business industry. All our mentors give their time and energy for free because they are passionate about what we do.

We aren’t formally affiliated with or sponsored by any companies or other organisations, and our community is intended to be a safe space for people to have candid discussions and to build authentic relationships based on shared goals and mutual respect.

  • I have more questions!

Drop us an email at hello@dibs.community and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
